Forest Health

Tulare County has a higher wildfire hazard potential then 93.3% of counties in the nation. Since 2013 the span of fires in the wildland urban interface has changed the landscape significantly prompting Federal, State, and Local declarations of emergency as thousands of acres were burned, homes were threatened, and mass forced evacuations required. Tulare County shares responsibility in creating healthy pathways for communities to live and thrive in our region. Determining baseline risks and developing effective mitigation strategies in each community will reduce the spread of a catastrophic wildfire and provide effective and efficient wildfire response. The Resource Management Agency (RMA) has taken an active coordinated approach through the Tulare County Forest Health Task Force to partner with various agencies in a larger effort to reduce wildfire hazards in the region. Click to read more here.
